Kosmas Fails To Hear Constituents On Health Care
Florida Today Letter to the Editor
August 15th, 2009
Dear Editor,
My blood was boiling after reading Rep. Suzanne Kosmas’ column. Kosmas claims she wants any changes to health care to “reflect the priorities of Central Floridians”, but she fails to return constituent calls and refuses to host an open town hall meeting at which citizens may express their legitimate concerns with the government takeover of health care.
The tone of her message is that Congress knows best and will tell us what to do. This is the inverse of what our Founders intended. Kosmas was elected to represent us, not tell us what to do. The brave men and women of our military fight and die to defend our Constitution while cowards like Kosmas betray their oaths by ramming unconstitutional legislation down our throats without giving their constituents the opportunity to comment.
The notion that government can run health care better than private enterprise is absurd on its face. One need look no further than the bureaucratic nightmare called the Veterans Administration or the fact that Medicare is projected to be bankrupt by 2019 to see this. Now Kosmas wants to extend that “efficiency” to the rest of the system. This is a life or death issue – tell her NO!
